Program and services
Medicaid is a program of the Commonwealth of Virginia that offers health services to eligible residents. Most of the health services are provided through managed care organizations (MCOs). An MCO is a health plan with a group of doctors and other providers working together to provide health services to Medicaid members.
Kaiser Permanente is an MCO that is part of Virginia's Medicaid program. Eligible Medicaid enrollees can choose Kaiser Permanente as the MCO where they want to receive their health services.
The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services decides who can enroll in an MCO like Kaiser Permanente. They will let us know who is eligible and if there are any changes in the eligibility of Medicaid enrollees.
